Investors in 9stacks
At 9stacks, we are lucky to have a blue chip group of investors backing us. Indeed, we could offer some decent odds that we have raised the largest / highest quality angel round in Indian startup history - not just amongst poker startups but across all startups!
Our investors include:
- 11 founders / CEOs of startups
- 17 professional investors, most of them partners or MDs, working with some of the top VC and PE funds investing in India
- More than 15 current or former employees of the top 3 consulting firms in India, including 6 senior partners / Directors
- 15 Chief Marketing Officer / Chief Executive Officer level executives across leading consumer-facing companies (FMCG / telecom / e-commerce / travel / media etc)
All of these investors have trusted us with their own personal funds - they have taken the time and effort to understand the business model, the legal / financial / team aspects of our startup, and then decided it is a reasonable use of their capital. We couldn’t ask for more, right? Well, actually, we did. We have also asked this group of investors to invest some time and effort in shaping the kind of company we’re trying to build - and thus, we’ve had investors helping us with areas as diverse as corporate governance, our tech stack, customer segmentation and short-term investment of surplus funds.
In return, we hope to not only generate a good financial return for our investors, but also build a company they can be proud of. This is one reason we are ultra-careful about how we deal with funds deposited by users: in no case do we ever deploy user funds for our marketing or overhead costs. We do hope that all our competitors in the industry will eventually adopt similar practices, thereby reducing the risk of defaults and bad user experiences for the poker industry at large. Certainly, it would be a good thing if you as a customer could ask a couple of questions to the other poker sites you use: a) who are the promoters and investors behind the company? And b) what are their policies when it comes to using money deposited by users? Are user deposits held separately from funds contributed by the promoters / investors?
Today, thanks to our investors we are well-funded, well-advised, carefully governed, and able to focus on what we do best: build a great + safe online poker experience, so that as a customer:
“You Play Safe With Us”
